Airdrie Mayor's Recreation for Life Run (5K)

I ran this 5K today. I only registered for it on Wednesday, but I've had my eye on it for a while. I was waiting to see how it would fit into my half-marathon training, and to make sure we didn't have something else going on this weekend.

My training schedule had a 2.5 mile tempo run today, so I decided that a 5K would be a good switch out. My goal for the race was to finish in 30 minutes.

The weather today was overcast and cool with showers - perfect for running. This run isn't chip timed, but there were less than 100 people at the start, so it didn't take long to cross the line. I kept time and pacing based on my Garmin. I was trying to keep a consistent pace throughout the race, and I think I did a fair job at that. (I haven't downloaded my GPS yet) I didn't have quite enough kick at the finish though, and finished in 30:20. I'm happy enough with that result, especially since I just started serious training again.

We're off to Orlando on Wednesday, and will be running in the Expedition Everest Challenge, so I'll have lots of photos when we return.
