Today is the First Day...

I started my half-marathon training plan today.

After my 10K, I knew that I wouldn't be following a training plan for the summer. I also knew that I would be very, very busy. My original plan was to run 3 times per week, 2 x 3 miles and 1 x 5 miles. Well, that didn't work out very well :) It's WAY too easy to slack off when I don't have a plan written on the wall to be accountable to. I did get a few runs in, so it wasn't a total failure, but now we're beyond that period of time, so I won't even think about it anymore.

Today I started training for the WDW half-marathon in January. It is about 17 weeks away, and I'm following another plan from Running Room's Book on Running. I will be following the 2:00 finish plan, but my actual plan for the race, is to finish in 2:15. I figure that way, I will have a bit of a cushion to visit with characters and take some pictures. After all, if you're going to run at Disney, you might as well take advantage of the unique opportunities available there.

So, I made it through the first day, and now I'll be running 5 times per week. Even through Christmas and New Years! Off we go then...Wheee!
