I've now been running for over a year, and only have about 11 months to go until my first marathon. It's amazing the difference a year makes! In that year, I've lost about 35 pounds, and weigh less now than I ever have as an adult. (I would still like to lose 10 more pounds before the marathon next year) It feels great to not be overweight any more. I've always been pretty active, but carried the extra pounds around. Running has allowed me to shed those pounds without having to count calories.
One thing that I'm really proud of, is that I can model a healthy lifestyle for my children. They've participated in a couple of kid's races too, so get to enjoy running as a fun event. I believe that if they see mom and dad having fun running, they too will have fun doing physical activity.
