Going to San Francisco

I just found out today that I was successful in the lottery for the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco on October 18. I'm excited that our group of housemates from MIT will be doing it together! We still need to decide whether we're running (walking) in groups or whether it will be everyone on their own and meet up again at the end. The hills are likely to be a challenge. Looking at the course map, there are two big hills, and one comes at about mile 12. After you tackle it though, it's downhill to the finish!

This week my training has gone fairly well. I was happy to complete a 3 mile goal pace run on Sunday. This was the same speed I had attempted before a few times as a tempo run, and only managed to finish it once. This time I made it all the way through and felt pretty strong. Now if only I can run at that speed for 13 miles instead of only 3!
