We haven't started gliding yet, but already I can feel my free time dwindling to nothing. Last year I had a very hard time fitting in my running once my racing season was done at the beginning of July. This year my racing will be done earlier (May 31 is my last race of the spring), but I really need to maintain and increase my base miles over the summer.
My plan this summer and into the fall is to do more of my long runs outside. At the moment, it is barely above zero and we have more snow in the forecast. I purchased some cold weather running gear on sale recently, so I'll get a chance to test it out before summer really hits. I'm planning a 9 mile run outside on Monday morning.
Since my half marathon is only 5 weeks away, I'm starting to really think hard about my goals. Proper nutrition is one of those things that can make a big difference, so I'm focusing more on that aspect lately. If I can drop a few pounds between now and then, I will be faster on race day.
